Arun Purkayastha of Sreebhumi Publishing Company, Calcutta (now Kolkata) who breathed his last on 6th January 2010, did yeomen's service to Assamese literature. Despite that he preferred to remain in the background. We mourn the death of this doyen who has departed quite silently.
